Log In to MT4 With an Investor Password: Account and Server Checks
To log in to an MT4 account in read-only mode, use the account's number, current investor password and exact server. The investor password changes the authorisation rights; it does not create a separate investor account number.
The official MT4 authorisation guide documents login from the File menu or the account's Navigator context menu. It distinguishes investor observation/analysis from trading authorisation.
Connect to the intended account
- Confirm that the account is an MT4 account and obtain its exact server from your own provider records.
- Open the existing-account login command in the terminal.
- Enter the trading account number and investor password, then choose the appropriate server.
- Submit the login and check the displayed account and connection state.
Use only the read-only credential for this purpose. Do not substitute a broker-portal password or master trading password into an analytics investor-password field.
Check read-only access without an order
Confirm the intended account and the authorisation through the available platform/provider controls. Do not attempt a trade to test whether a login is read-only. If its mode is unclear, resolve that with the provider before sharing access.
A connected display is not proof that every historical transaction or equity observation has been downloaded. Keep the account environment, reporting period, history coverage and current refresh state identifiable.

Is the investor login a separate account number?
Investor authorisation uses the trading account number with the appropriate investor password and server. Do not assume a new investor account ID is generated.

What does a successful login prove?
