MT5 Investor Password: Setup, Access and Reporting Limits
An MT5 investor password permits read-only authorisation without trading operations. Use the account's own password-management controls to set it, then check the account number and server in a read-only login. Do not test the permission by trying to place a trade.
The steps below follow the desktop documentation. Mobile and broker-branded interfaces can differ, so use their own current instructions rather than assuming the same menu labels exist everywhere.
Set the investor password in the desktop terminal
The official MT5 settings guide documents Tools > Options, also accessible with Ctrl+O, and the Server tab's password-change control.
- Select the intended account and open its password-change dialog.
- Use the current master password in the terminal's Current password field to authorise the change.
- Select the option to change the investor password, rather than the master password.
- Enter and confirm the new investor password, following the requirements displayed in the dialog, then submit the change.
These steps take place in your own authorised terminal or provider process. An analytics service's investor-password field is not where you enter the master password to create or reset the credential. If the change is refused or the controls are unavailable, use your account provider's support route.
Check the account and read-only authorisation
The official MT5 connection guide documents login with an account number, password and server. Use the new investor credential for the account and exact server. Investor authorisation permits observation and analysis, but not trading.
Confirm the account shown and review the connection status or available account information. Do not send an order to prove that trading is disabled: that is unnecessary and could expose a mistake in which credential was used. If the authorisation mode is unclear, ask the provider before sharing the credential.
Troubleshoot without widening access

The MT5 connection guide notes that a forced master-password change also resets the investor password. If that occurred, set the investor password again through the documented process instead of assuming that all earlier read-only connections still work.
Separate access rights from the information collected

Do not treat master trading authorisation as a universal description of broker-portal or payment permissions. Those workflows depend on the provider. For an analytics connection, the intended credential is the investor password, not the master or portal password.
A current equity value is not the whole equity history
Account information can include a current balance or equity value. A service receiving those values at intervals observes those timestamps, not necessarily every value between observations.
Closed transactions provide booked results. They do not reveal the complete path of floating gains and losses while positions were open. A balance series reconstructed from closes cannot establish the largest unobserved floating loss or every intraday equity-rule breach.
When reading a chart, state whether it uses balance or equity, its observation frequency, reporting period and treatment of costs and cash movements. Compare the provider's own account-rule calculation separately; do not substitute a generic ratio or reconstructed chart for it.
What a report can support
Keep the original account identity, environment, period and records identifiable. Explain calculations and unresolved differences. A report may support a review of those records without establishing strategy ownership, identity verification, independent audit assurance or future profitability.
Direct access does not automatically make all outputs immutable or tamper-proof. The service chooses what it stores, calculates and displays. A recipient still needs to know the scope and limitations rather than accepting a verified label as a substitute for that explanation.
Current MyVeridex capabilities and limits
MyVeridex currently offers MT4 and MT5 account connections using a read-only investor password. Its current form uses the broker/server, account number and investor credential. It does not currently offer cTrader, DXtrade, Match-Trader or TradeLocker connections.
A broker-directory listing does not establish compatibility with another platform or every server. MyVeridex also imports supported MT4/MT5 closed-trade statements in HTML, XLSX and CSV. That feature is not a promise of compatibility with any file from another platform. Its reconstruction derives balance history from closed results, not complete historical intratrade equity.
After connecting, reconcile the displayed account, period and transactions with the original records. A successful connection does not independently audit the account or guarantee any trading or prop-firm outcome. The analytics data-checking workflow covers those subsequent checks.
End access and review retained information
Keep a record of recipients and the purpose for which access was granted. If access is no longer needed or disclosure is suspected, use the account provider's credential/session controls and the service's supported disconnection process. Confirm the resulting access state.
Changing an investor password can affect multiple services using that credential. It is not a separate revocation key for each recipient and does not delete information already copied. Ask the service about retained records and sharing settings rather than assuming a password change retracts every report.
Follow the provider's actual credential and session rules, and review access when recipients or exposure change.

Where do I set the MT5 investor password?

Should I enter the master password into an analytics connection form?

Does read-only access mean the data is public?
No. Read-only describes trading authority, not who may view or retain information. Review the account credential recipients and the service's sharing controls separately.
Does an equity snapshot recover every earlier floating loss?
No. A value observed at one time does not provide every value between observations. Closed transactions also cannot reconstruct the full intratrade equity path.
Is a directly connected report an independent audit?
Not automatically. Identify the source, account type, period, coverage, calculations and gaps. A connection alone does not establish independent assurance, strategy ownership or future profitability.
Does changing the password delete old reports?
No. It can affect services using that credential but does not retrieve copied data. Use provider/session and service-disconnection controls, confirm access state and separately review retained information.
